Description

Twelve years ago, Norm introduced Marshall Brodien to me. Marshall is famous because he introduced an entire generation to magic in the 1970s with the marketing of TV Magic Cards. We went out for lunch, had a great time, and Marshall left on a plane back home to Chicago.

A few weeks later, the phone rang...It was Marshall calling Norm. I told Norm: "Pick up the phone, it is Marshall". Norm said: "Is it Wizzo the Wizard?" And I said, "No, it is Marshall." Then it dawned on me...Marshall was Wizzo the Wizard! Wow! I screamed at Norm: "Why didn't you tell me that Marshall was Wizzo?!" During my childhood I remember coming back from school, looking forward to watching The Bozo Show on television just because Wizzo the Wizard performed in that show. He is one of my idols.

This unique biography details the life of magician Marshall Brodien, most remembered for his long-running career as television's Wizzo the Wizard on WGN-TV's Bozo's Circus and The Bozo Show. Beginning in the late 1940s, when Brodien was a young magician in his first job as a Chicago magic shop demonstrator, it then recounts Brodien's steady rise to show-business success, including detailed accounts of his work as a performer at the Magic Lounge in Cicero, as a nightclub hypnotist in Chicago's posh Cairo Supper Club, and the work concludes with an examination of Brodien's current career as one of the most successful marketers of magic sets in the U.S. (Softbound - 263 pages)
