Description

Wild and wacky ideas for parlour and stage from a unique mind!

Between the late 80's and early 90's, Dean created and released hundreds of ideas totally thousands of pages of ideas to various magic publications such as Tops, Genii, Magigram, MUM, Linking Ring, Invocation, Vibrations and more... His ideas have appeared in print over and over, but many of them have been unavailable and unseen for many years.

Back when Leaping Lizards Magic started, some of these ideas were released in the limited edition, now out of print books Quietus of Creativity 1 and 2, and there is no plan to re-release that material at this time.

However, there is still over 2 thousand pages of additional material, and so, we begin with this new series, to welcome you into the mind of a creative mad man.

Most of these ideas are presented with emphasis on the presentations, mysterious, theatrical, sometimes corny- this first volume focuses on a series of stage and parlor effects. In some cases, they are based upon standard effects and so the method is covered in brief- but usually these are well known items. In cases where more details may be needed, the methods have been expanded and enhances with more illustrations than ever before.

ALSO, in this day of books going sky high, we are trying to spark your creative juices WITHOUT draining your wallet. This volume, and those that follow, is priced at only $25 in soft cover, so that you can get your magic fix, inspire yourself, find new routines that YOU can use, and avoid breaking the bank!

Here are the basic contents of this first volume.... Other volumes are expected ever 3 months or there abouts, 4 volumes all together.

Let's Make A Duck- A corny game show illusionette in which duck parts are funneled into an empty box and a duck produced, thereafter the duck is transformed from a duck to a chick- not a chicken, but your lovely assistant in a duck costume yea, THAT kind of "Chick"!

The Call Of The Tookey Bird is a fun kiddie routine for the eggs from mouth- answering the age old question of what happens when one eats a birds nest with the bird still in it!

The Chest Of Time, a small box and antique clock that allow the performer and audience to distort time!

BILK- a large white block of wood, or oversized 'Die' is shown sitting in the middle of a black cloth. The corners of the cloth are gathered and the die VISIBLY penetrates the bottom of the cloth. At one time, Dean marketing this effect as a stand-alone at almost twice the price of this book!

Ship In A bottle- a model of the flying Dutchman fades visibly into nothingness, only to re-appear in a bottle across the stage a few minutes later.

The Disembodied Guinea Pig- NOTHING like what the name implies- but a version of the Mutillated Parasol that you can MAKE yourself and which the solid top and umbrella are in view the entire time. The top VISIBLY changes to a chain of rags with a wave of the hand, and the umbrella restores itself with no cover while held by a child volunteer. Another one that is WORTH the price of the book and is likely to fool magicians!

Living Origami- an origami sculpture comes to life and then a live person is produced from within the folds- or rather crumples.

Life's A Beach- a new twist on the daylight séance.

Giant Gem Busters- want to do the old Gem Busters type effect with a large scale die.... here it is, another effect that Dean sold for over $50 in the late 80's.

Big Brother Is Watching- a Silly Stage size version of the Mind Reading Computer.

I Left My Heart In Sheldon's Magic Shop!- Hokey Schmaltz- and a over sized rigid heart that is broken and later restored with a tear jerking story.

SANCTUARY a version of the razor blade swallowing with small Christmas bells,

The Simplex Squeeze Play, a parlor version of a classic effect using a 3 inch wooden die and a pair of plates.

Living Christmas Tree A silly fun routine where a spectator BECOMES a Christmas tree compliments of a UF Grant production box.

Good Bye Mr. Chips- A bag of potato chips is smashed flat between two platters.... The chips penetrate the platter and the bag and end up inside a previously empty hat.

Mr. Chips Returns- A second attempt, but this time the ENTIRE bag magically penetrates and ends up inside the hat!

POULTRY-GEIST- Mind reading and a recipe for chicken!

Up Up And Away- Time machines, Star-Trek, a borrowed watch shot from a cannon into a balloon - all this and more!
